Iran will complete a major part of its public vaccination against COVID-19 by October 22 in view of the significant rise in its jab imports, said the health minister.
Public vaccination is the most important solution to curb the COVID-19 pandemic, Bahram Einollahi added in an address to a meeting with Iran’s Police Chief Hossein Ashtari.
-- PBO seeking economic growth in new Iranian budget bill
The Planning and Budget Organization (PBO) will be seeking to boost economic growth in Iran when drafting the budget bill for the next Iranian calendar year (starting March 21, 2022), said the PBO chief.
In a meeting with the heads of the Management and Planning Organizations of Iranian provinces, Masoud Mirkazemi said, “Next year’s budget bill will be drafted according to the country’s economic requirements, upstream documents, and the new [Economic, Cultural and Social] Development Plan.

Fahraj, a city in the southeastern province of Kerman, was of great importance during the Seljuk Era (1037-1194 CE), in such a way that the Silk Road passed through it.

-- President Raisi: No Talks Under Pressure
Iran’s new government is prepared to hold talks with world countries to revive its 2015 nuclear accord but it is not seeking to do so under Western “pressure”, President Ebrahim Raisi has said.
Raisi, in a live interview with national television Saturday night, said Tehran expects negotiations to come along with the removal of U.S. sanctions.
“The Westerners and the Americans are after talks together with pressure ... What kind of talks is that? I have already announced that we will have talks on our government’s agenda but not with ... pressure,” said Raisi, who assumed office last month.
“Talks are on the agenda, but not talks for the sake of talks, or negotiations for the sake of negotiations. We are seeking goal-oriented negotiations ... so sanctions on the Iranian people are removed,” he continued.
“In these talks, we seek to obtain the removal of oppressive sanctions,” he added. “We will not give in on the interests of the great Iranian nation.”
-- Iran-UAE Trade Tops $7.3bn in 5 Months
Iran’s Customs Administration (IRICA) spokesman Rouhollah Latifi has said that the value of trade between Iran and the United Arab Emirates reached $7.3 billion in the five months to July 22.
Latifi said that trade between Iran and the UAE had increased by 54% in value terms and by 24% in volume terms in the first five months of the current Persian calendar year.
However, the balance of trade was largely in UAE’s favor, said Latifi, adding that the Arab country’s exports to Iran had reached $5.391 billion, up 157% against March-July 2020.

-- Pakistan and Iran should work for peaceful and united Afghanistan
As in Iran, the sudden fall of Kabul to the Taliban has come as a surprise in Pakistan. But there are many who argue that the hasty withdrawal of U.S. forces has left a power vacuum in Afghanistan emboldening the Taliban to take over the country, as former President Ashraf Ghani and his coterie fled the country.
After spending more than 2 trillion dollars and thousands of lives lost, the U.S. and its Western allies failed to address the basic governance failures and massive corruption in Afghanistan. They also failed to realize that 40 years of continual conflict and violence had left ordinary Afghans exhausted and with no appetite at all for further bloodshed.
After all, it is Afghans themselves who have suffered the most, irrespective on whichever side or group they belonged to.
Pakistan and Iran have suffered the most in decades-long conflict in Afghanistan. Both the countries have been hosting millions of Afghan refugees with their own limited resources. There were also other problems that Pakistan and Iran are still facing such as narcotics, drugs and human trafficking.
-- Major industrial firms to build 10,500MW of power plants
Major Iranian industrial firms are going to fund the construction of 10,500 megawatts (MW) capacity of new power plants to meet their own electricity needs, Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Saeed Zarandi announced.
Making the remarks in an online seminar on electricity supply challenges in the steel industry on Sunday, Zarandi said the Energy Ministry has so far issued permits for 13 such companies to pursue building power plants, IRNA reported.
Speaking in the mentioned event, the official said: “challenges in electricity supply over the past three months have severely hampered the country's industrial and mining production plants and we are already worried about supplying power to such units in the winter.”
-- 60 properties in Khorasan Razavi made national heritage
A selection of 60 historical sites, aging structures, and natural sites, scattered across Khorasan Razavi province have recently been inscribed on the national heritage list.
The Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts announced the inscriptions on Sunday in a letter to the governor-general of the northeastern province.
Archaeological hills, historical mansions, old mosques, traditional ice storages (yakhchals), cisterns, public bathhouses, and petroglyphs were among the properties added to the magnificent list.
The provincial capital of Mashhad attracts hundreds of pilgrims each day from various Iranian cities, neighboring countries, and even across the globe; the raison d’être is the striking massive shrine complex of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shia Imam.
